WHAT IS A SOUNDWALK?
A Soundwalk is a QR-guided listening environment where live music, recorded sound, spoken word, and visual art intersect These works invite audiences to move through space intentionally, encountering stories and performances as they go - Soundwalk 2026 themes include - Resilience & Healing Labor, Lineage & Legacy Joy, Blooming & Abundance Liberation & Freedom Youth, Becoming & the Future Community Voice & Collective Memory Identity Creative Self-Care East Austin stories Growth & Transformation
THE VICTORY GARDEN
The patio of the Historic Victory Grill (Austin, TX) is transformed into a thematic Victory Garden, re-built on the site of a World War II-era Victory Garden and framing the Soundwalk while guiding attendees toward the main stage In the 1940s, the women of East Austin cultivated and tended this land to feed Black soldiers and the surrounding community. HerStory Soundwalk reimagines this garden as a space for art & music
APPLY FOR CONSIDERATION
CAKE invites women, girls, and gender-expansive musicians, songwriters, producers, composers, DJs, spoken word, visual artists, and short-form content creators to apply for paid Soundwalk performance opportunities, currently scheduled in Austin, TX during SxSW and quarterly throughout 2026 Visual art will be featured as part of a curated Soundwalk installation and paired with a QR code linking to a song, poem, or audio story Short-form video content will be featured on the main stage Select musical artists will be invited to perform in a Live Music Showcase on the main stage Questions?
